How Kadensy uses cookies

Cookies and similar technologies are small pieces of data stored on your device when you visit a website. Kadensy uses them to keep you signed in, remember your preferences and operate core security features. This page explains, in line with ePrivacy Directive Article 5(3) and the GDPR, what we store, why we store it, and how you can control it.

1. Essential cookies

These cookies are strictly necessary for the Service to function. They cannot be switched off and do not require your consent.

NamePurposeDuration
cadence_sessionMaintains your signed-in session and links you to server-side state.Session
XSRF-TOKENProtects against cross-site request forgery on form submits and JSON calls.Session
cookie_consentRecords your cookie consent choice (localStorage, not a cookie strictly speaking).12 months

2. Functional cookies

These cookies remember your interface preferences so you do not have to re-set them on every visit. They are used only when you have explicitly opted in via the cookie banner or have changed the corresponding setting.

NamePurposeDuration
sidebar_stateRemembers whether the sidebar is collapsed or expanded.12 months
appearanceStores your colour scheme preference (light / dark / system).12 months

3. Analytics cookies

Kadensy does not currently ship any analytics cookies. We plan to integrate a privacy-friendly, EU-hosted analytics provider (such as Plausible, Fathom or a self-hosted alternative). When we do, this section will be updated and the new cookies will only be set after you give explicit consent via the banner.

4. Third-party cookies

Some Service features depend on third-party providers that may set their own cookies when you interact with them:

  • Stripe — fraud prevention and 3D Secure during credit-card checkout.
  • Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google via Single Sign-On.
  • LiveKit — connection persistence inside the lesson room.

These cookies are governed by the privacy policies of the relevant provider.

5. How to control cookies

You can control cookies at any time:

  • Adjust your choice via the cookie banner that appears on your first visit, or by clearing the cookie_consent entry from your browser storage to see the banner again.
  • Block or delete cookies from your browser settings. Most browsers let you reject all cookies or signal “Do Not Track”.
  • Use private/incognito browsing, which automatically clears cookies at the end of the session.

Note that disabling essential cookies will prevent you from signing in or completing checkout.
